Media, as humankind, has evolved through time, the first era of media was the tribal era (where messages were transmitted by words), the second era was the literate era (where messages were transmitted through written words, and stopped being immediate), then during the industrial revolution came the print era (where messages were mainly transmitted by the printing press), and afterwards the electronic era in which we're at came (messages became once again immediate, and are transmitted through electronic devices connecting the world).
