A batch contains 31 bacteria cells. Assume that 12 of the cells are not capable of cellular replication. Six cells are selected

at random, without replacement, to be checked for replication. Round your answers to four decimal places (e.g. 98.7654).What is the probability that all six cells of the selected cells are able to replicate

Answer:

0.0369 = 3.69% probability that all six cells of the selected cells are able to replicate.

Step-by-step explanation:

A probability is the number of desired outcomes divided by the number of total outcomes

The combinations formula is important in this problem:

C_{n,x} is the number of different combinations of x objects from a set of n elements, given by the following formula.

C_{n,x} = \frac{n!}{x!(n-x)!}

Desired outcomes

31 cells

19 are able to replicate.

We pick six.

The order is not important, that is, if it had been 2 cells, cell A and cell B would be the same outcome as cell B and cell A. So we use the combinations formula to find the number of desired outcomes.

It is a combination of 6 from 19(cells who are able to replicate).

D = C_{19,6} = \frac{19!}{6!(19 - 6)!} = 27132

Total outcomes

31 cells

6 are picked.

T = C_{31,6} = \frac{31!}{6!(31 - 6)!} = 736281

What is the probability that all six cells of the selected cells are able to replicate?

P = \frac{D}{T} = \frac{27132}{736281} = 0.0369

0.0369 = 3.69% probability that all six cells of the selected cells are able to replicate.

What is the length of a side of a cube with a volume of 729 m3?
Law Incorporation [45]
So, You Need To Find The Length Of One Of The Sides. So, Lets Find It Using The Cubed Method. 10*10*10 = 1000, So It Can't Be 10. 5*5*5 = 125, So It Needs To Be Bigger. 7*7*7 = 343, So Bigger. 8*8*8 = 512, So Bigger. 9*9*9 = 729m^3, So, The Side Length Of The Cube Is 9 Meters. I Hope This Helps!

Extreme cold and hot temperatures are known to affect the operation of electronic components. Winter is approaching and you are
Musya8 [376]

Answer:

A 95% confidence interval for the true mean minimum temperature that will damage an iPod is between 2.55°F and 7.45°F

Test statistic(Z) = 2.31

P-value = 0.0104

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1

Null hypothesis: The average damaging temperature of nine iPods is 5°F

Alternate hypothesis: The average damaging temperature of nine iPods differs from 5°F

Step 2

Mean=5°F, Sd=3, df=n-1=9-1=8

The t-value corresponding to 8 degrees of freedom and 95% confidence level (5% significance level) is 2.306

Confidence Interval(CI) = (mean + or - t×sd/√n)

CI = (5 + 2.306×3/√8) = 5 + 6.918/2.828= 5+2.45=7.45°F

CI = (5 - 2.306×3/√8) = 5-2.45 = 2.55°F

Z = (sample mean - population mean)/(sd÷√n) = (5-2.55)/(3÷√8) = 2.45/1.061 = 2.31

Step 3

Using the standard distribution table, the cumulative area to the left of Z = 2.31 is 0.9896

P-value = 1 - 0.9896 = 0.0104

Step 4

Conclusion: A 95% confidence interval for the true mean minimum temperature that will damage an iPod is between 2.55°F and 7.45°F

Please help me with this one I don’t understand. I need help with #20 thank you!
dimaraw [331]

part A)

we know that for every 1000 ft the temperature drops by 1.3.

so after 1000ft up it went down by 1.3(1)

2000ft up it went down by 1.3(2) or 2.6

3000ft up it went down by 1.3(3) or 3.9

after 10000 up it went down by 1.3(10) or 13.

part B)

well, the current temperature on the ground where the plane is sitting is -2.8°F, after 10000ft it dropped by 13°, so the temperature will just be -2.8 - 13 = -15.8°F.
