1. Did the direction the seed was facing change how the roots and stems grew? Include in your answer how the growth looked for e

ach of the four seeds.
2. Plants do not have any sensory organs so how do the stems of a plant know to grow up toward the light and the roots of a plant to grow down toward the water?
3. Describe how the roots looked in comparison to the stems; include color and any other characteristics you could see.
4. Plants may not be motile but they are capable of movement. Research phototropism and geotropism, how are they different and how are they the same?

2.

The plant hormone auxin is the driving force behind the plant's growth towards the sunlight to be able to generate energy by photosynthesis. Highly sensitive light-sensing proteins help seedlings find the shortest route (to sunlight) by elongating the cells of the stem on the side that is farthest from the sunlight.

The roots are made up of cells that are dense with ball-like structures called statoliths that respond to  gravity pulling it down. It enables the plant to grow perpendicular to the sky.

4.

Tropism is the plant's response to stimulus. When the plants move toward the stimulus, it is called a  positive tropism. Negative tropism is the plants' movement away from the stimulus. Both Phototropism and Geotropism are both tropisms.

Phototropism is the mechanism that enables the plant to respond to light. Stems and leaves exhibit this process.

Geotropism or Gravitropism the mechanism that enables the plant to respond to gravity. It allows the plant to orient themselves for growth. Plant roots exhibit this process.

One of your lab partners has followed the recommended procedure of running Gram-positive and Gram-negative control organisms on
kow [346]

Answer:

The correct answer is "I would suggest her to change the Gram positive control from Bacillus subtilis to other bacteria".

Explanation:

Bacillus subtilis, and the species from the genre Bacillus, are known for losing the crystal violet coloration during Gram testing. It is likely that B. subtilis might look pink under the procedure for this reason. I would suggest to change her Gram positive control from B. subtilis to other bacteria. For instance, she could try with Staphylococcus aureus, a widely used bacteria as Gram positive control.

1. Starting in the mouth, food follows a pathway through the digestive system. Describe how the mouth is involved in both mechan
ikadub [295]

Explanation:

1) Chemical digestion begins in the mouth when food mixes with saliva. Saliva contains an enzyme (amylase) that begins the breakdown of carbohydrates.

2) The daily values are reference amounts (expressed in grams, milligrams, or micrograms) of nutrients to consume or not to exceed each day. The %DV helps you determine if a seving of food is high or low in a nutrient.

3) If a food has a daily value of 5% or less of a nutrient, it is considered to be low in that nutrient.

A food is a good source of a nutrient if the percent daily value is between 10% and 19%, If the food has 20% or more of the daily value, it is considered an excellent source of that nutrient.

4) As food passes through the GI tract, it mixes with digestive juices, causing large molecules of food to break down into smaller molecules. The body then absorbs these smaller molecules through the walls of the small intestine into the bloodstream, which delivers them to the rest of the body.

5) During digestion, your pancreas makes pancreatic juices called enzymes. These enzymes break down sugars, fats, and starches. Your pancreas also helps your digestive system by making hormones. These are chemical messengers that travel through your blood.
