efits that foreign influence brought. They resented foreign influence and formed rebel groups to fight Europeans. They were unaware of foreign influence because Europeans stayed near the coast. They were angered by the foreign influence and formed a secret society called the Boxers.

To gained control of China's economy, many European traders at that time decided to created problems for the people of China. For example, they exported large scale of opium related products to China in order to weaken its power.

Because of this, many chinese groups started to develop hatred to the europeans and formed rebel groups to eliminate their influence on China.
