The ocean and the present atmosphere themselves are not leftovers from the original atmosphere of Earth. However, they do contain components within them that give us and scientists ideas of what Earth's past atmosphere was like.

Some example include:

1) Ice cores - scientists may go to Antartica or Alaska and stick this metal tube into the ice to remove what is known as an "ice core". This is then taken back to the lab for analysis. So what happens is that this ice as we know is constantly melting and freezing with different seasons and climate change. So, when the ice starts to crystallize, particles like carbon dioxide, sulfur etc may get trapped as bubbles in the ice. This is what scientists look for in ice coring and this is how they know that Carbon dioxide levels were relatively high back then (Not as high compared to now).

2) Ocean sediment cores - this is the exact same process of the ice cores except they take cores of sediments (esspecially calcium carbonate that contains oxygen). As you know, CaCO3 is found in the exoskeletons of organisms that die and build up on the ocean floor.

Those are some of the main ways that the present atmosphere and oceans have leftovers from the original atmosphere of Earth.

Hope that helped!

A student forgets to mix the second tube of the serial dilution. How might this affect the subsequent dilutions?
svetlana [45]
A well mixed serial dilution is critical to achieving a homogenous mixture that has a constant concentration over the sample volume. If the dilution is not well mixed then it will affect the subsequent dilutions consent ration which will lead to percent error

In the lab, Celia adds concentrated sulfuric acid to a beaker full of water. She touches the side of the beaker and finds the so
AlladinOne [14]

Answer: The statement is false

Explanation:

Addition of concentrated sulfuric acid (H2SO4) to a beaker full of water (H2O) will release heat energy to the containing vessel due to the breakage of strong ionic bond present in the acid.

Thus, it is an evidence of a EXERGONIC REACTION (since energy is released spontaneously). So, the statement is false

The neuromuscular junction is a well-studied example of a chemical synapse. Which of the following statements describes a critic
WITCHER [35]

Answer:

A- Acetylcholine is released by axon terminals of the motor neuron.

Explanation:

The general mechanism of muscle contraction can be explained as follows:

a) The action potential which is generated, travels along the motor nerve to its ends on muscle fiber (or motor end plate) at the neuro-muscular junction.

b) The nerve endings then secrete small amounts of neurotransmitter called acetylcholine.

c) The actylecholine binds to the receptors on the membrane of muscle fiber and opens the voltage gated sodium channels.

d) Opening of these channels leads to flow of large quantities of sodium ions into the muscle fiber which ultimately results in initiation of action potential in muscle fiber.

e) This action potential depolarizes the fiber including the T-tubules, triggering the release of calcium ions from sarcoplasmic reticulum.

f) The calcium ions thus released initiated the process of muscle contraction.
