If you draw a line through each dots, one being from (2,3) to (8,15) and the other being (2,2) to (9,9). And, then if you draw one that is roughly halfway between the two of the first starting points with a slope of 1.5(which is the other 2 lines slopes combined and divided by two to find an average), and then draw out that line to x=9, you will see that it intersects with 13, which is 1 away from 12.
