A solution is made by dissolving 373.5 g of Pb(NO3)2 (molar mass: 331.2 g/mol) in 2.00 × 103 g of water. What is the molality of
hram777 [196]
Answer:
molality = 0.564 m

Explanation:
Molality =  number of moles of solute / kg of solvent

1- getting moles of solute:
number of moles = mass / molar mass
we have:
mass = 373.5 g
molar mass = 331.2 g/mol
Therefore:
number of moles = 373.5 / 331.2 = 1.128 moles

2- getting kg of solvent:
mass in kg = mass in grams * 10⁻³
mass in kg = 2 * 10³ * 10⁻³
mass in kg = 2 kg

3- getting molality:
Molality =  number of moles of solute / kg of solvent
Molality = 1.128 / 2
Molalty = 0.564 m

Hope this helps :)

A chemistry student must write down in her lab notebook the concentration of a solution of sodium hydroxide. The concentration o
HACTEHA [7]

Answer:

1.099 gmL¯¹ ≈ 1.1 gmL¯¹

Explanation:

From the question given above, the following were obtained:

Mass of empty cylinder = 9.5 g

Mass Cylinder + NaOH = 31.92 g

Volume of solution = 20.4 mL

Concentration of solution =?

Next, we shall determine the mass of sodium hydroxide, NaOH. This can be obtained as as illustrated below:

Mass of empty cylinder = 9.5 g

Mass Cylinder + NaOH = 31.92 g

Mass of NaOH =?

Mass of NaOH = (Mass Cylinder + NaOH) – (Mass of empty cylinder)

Mass of NaOH = 31.92 – 9.5

Mass of NaOH = 22.42 g

Finally, we shall determine concentration of the solution as follow:

Mass of NaOH = 22.42 g

Volume of solution = 20.4 mL

Concentration of solution =?

Concentration = mass /volume

Concentration of solution = 22.42 / 20.4

Concentration of solution = 1.099 gmL¯¹ ≈ 1.1 gmL¯¹

Therefore, the concentration of the solution is 1.1 gmL¯¹

1. Naturally occurring europium (Eu) consists of two isotopes was a mass of 151 and 153. Europium- 151 has an abundance of 48.03
sergejj [24]
The atomic mass of Europium is 152 amu

Work:
151(0.4803) = 72.52 amu
153(0.5197) = 79.5 amu
72.5 + 79.5 = 152 amu
