So, what's the slope of y = 2x - 4?  well, is in slope-intercept form, thus

\bf y=\stackrel{slope}{2}x\stackrel{y-intercept}{-4} , so is 2.

now, a perpendicular line to that, will have a negative reciprocal slope to it, thus

\bf \textit{perpendicular, negative-reciprocal slope for}\quad 2\implies \cfrac{2}{1}\\\\
negative\implies  -\cfrac{2}{ 1}\qquad reciprocal\implies - \cfrac{ 1}{2}

so, that's its slope of that perpendicular line.

but we also know that it runs through (5,r) and (2,3), so that slope is equal to -1/2

\bf \begin{array}{ccccccccc}
&&x_1&&y_1&&x_2&&y_2\\
%  (a,b)
&&(~ 5 &,& r~)
%  (c,d)
&&(~ 2 &,& 3~)
\end{array}
\\\\\\
% slope  = m
slope =  m\implies
\cfrac{\stackrel{rise}{ y_2- y_1}}{\stackrel{run}{ x_2- x_1}}\implies \cfrac{3-r}{2-5}\implies \qquad \qquad \cfrac{3-r}{-3}~~=~~-\cfrac{1}{2}
\\\\\\
3-r=\cfrac{3}{2}\implies 3-\cfrac{3}{2}=r\implies \cfrac{6-3}{2}=r\implies \cfrac{3}{2}=r\implies 1.5=r

Ksivusya [100]

Answer:

352 ft (squared)  , he will need 12 paint cans

Step-by-step explanation:

Two 12 by 8ft walls = 192 ft in area, Two 10 by 8ft walls = 160 ft in Area, that equals 352 ft total, 352/30=11.73 repeated, round up to 12

amanda, bryan, and colin are in a book club. amanda reads twice as many books as bryan per month and colin reads 4 fewer than 3
lesya [120]
Please see below solution:
Let x = number of books that Bryan reads2x  for amanda = Amanda 3x - 4 for Colin  Amanda = 5/8(Bryan + Colin)2x = 5/8(x+3x-4)2x = 5/8(4x-4)

[16x = 5(4x-4)]816x = 20x - 20Subtract 20x from each side-4x =-20-4x/-4= -20/-4 divide -4 to eliminate the -4 in -4xx = 5
Therefore:
Bryan reads 5 books a month.
Since Amanda reads twice as many books a Bryan read so Amanda 10 books a month.
And Colin 11 books a month. 3(5) - 4 = 11

in a particular class of 26 students , 11 are men . what fraction of the students in the class are women
vitfil [10]

Step-by-step explanation:

woman = total students - men

= 26 - 11

=15

for fraction of woman , you take the 15(woman) over the total of people in the class,26.

Therefore your answer is 15 over 26
