Roles in an Ecosystem-(First Level consumers)

are consumers that get their energy from producers first level consumers are usually herbivores or omnivores.  (Second Level consumers

) are consumers that get their energy from first level consumers. Second level consumers are usually omnivores or carnivores.

(Third Level consumer

) are consumers that get their energy from second level consumers. Third level consumers are usually carnivores.

<u>Species Interactions-</u> within ecological webs include four main types of two-way interactions: mutualism, commensalism, competition, and predation (which includes herbivory and parasitism), because of the many linkages among species within a food web, changes to one species can have far-reaching effect.

<u>Community structure-</u>  is the ecologist's term for indicating what organisms are present in a given environment, in what numbers, and how they relate to each other,traditionally, a biological community is named for a dominant element.

<u>Ecological Succession-</u>  is the gradual process by which ecosystems change and develop over time. Nothing remains the same and habitats are constantly changing. There are two main types of succession, primary and secondary<u>.</u>
