The correct answer is D)  This victory led to an alliance between the French and the Americans.

The answer that best explains the result of the American victory at the Battle of Saratoga is "This victory led to an alliance between the French and the Americans."

Indeed there were two battles in Saratoga. In the first Battle of September 19, 1777, the British defeated the Continental Army. British General John Burgoyne decided to attack again on October 7, in Bemis Heights, but the Continental Army was victorious this time. This was an important victory for America in the Revolutionary War that made France to recognize the American colonies motives for waging war against Britain, and from then on, France became an ally of the colonies.
