Manifest destiny is the belief that the united states had to stretch from Coast to coast. The belief is what caused the westward expansion. Many Indians were kicked off of their land due to the settlers migrating into their lands. many Americans were receptive to the idea of the Manifest Destiny and believed it was their 'divine obligation' to extend the lands of the United States of America.
