This means all kinds of numbers, except imaginary numbers, are included including integers (whole numbers), rational and irrational numbers. Positive numbers lie on the right side while negative numbers lie on the left side. In this case, the first thing to do is to convert the fraction part of 8 3/5 to estimate its location in the number line. 3/5 is equal to 0.6. Thus, 8 3/5 = 8.6. The number is thus in between 8 and 9 on the right side of the line that is a little more than the half between these numbers.
