A legend or key is defined an the element of a graph, that is introduced to provide aditional information that helps the reader to interpret the information represented by the graph. It is not mandatory to include it but, in some cases, it is quite likely that the graph is not properly understood otherwise.

Its 50/50 animals are killed by humans for our benefits but they dont have to do it. We could simply eat vegetables or anything from plants (which i think anything that comes from plats is a vegetable). So I think that the answer depends on who is answering the question if they are vegans or meat eaters (which i am myself).
