James Oglethorpe wanted the highland Scots to move to Georgia because they were good fighters and could protect Georgia. 

The colony of Georgia was founded by James Oglethorpe in 1733 and everyone had a right to go there except Jewish however Oglethorpe allowed them to stay on the condition that they will not practice their religion.
