Gordimer was granted the privileges extended to people of her race: white. She fought against the terribly unfair treatments in the South. The mine in Gordimer<span>'s </span>story is a symbol for black labor<span>. </span>The traveling worker labor system made sure of a constant stream of colored mine workers who were forced to work in bad conditions in areas away from cities and work in the mines<span>. </span>

<span>Simpler answer: T</span>he house sitting on top of the gold mine represents the white culture that was built on the work and labor of the colored servant class from South Africa.

An extra fact is that Gordimer say's her house settles and makes creaking noises even when noone is present as a symbol and foreshadowing.

How does Lady Macbeth first hear the news of the witches prophesies?
blondinia [14]

Answer:

Received a letter from Macbeth.

Explanation:

William Shakespeare's "Macbeth" revolves around the rise and fall of Macbeth. Through murderous acts and nefarious plans, Macbeth tried to become the king of Scotland, aided by his wife and the knowledge of the three witches who had prophesied his rise and eventual destruction.

In Act 1 scene v, we see Lady Macbeth reading a letter from her husband Macbeth. In it, he told her about the three witches and their prophecy and how it became true for he had just been declared "Thane of Cawdor".

Thus, Lady Macbeth learned about the prophecies from her husband's letter.
