There are three types of DNA Mutations: base substitutions, deletions and insertions.
Base Substitutions. Single base substitutions are called point mutations, recall the point mutation Glu -----> Val which causes sickle-cell disease.
Deletions. ...
Insertions.

Explanation:

Substitution- When one DNA base is removed out of the nucleotide sequence and another is substituted. e.g AGC where base G is substituted for Base C becomes ACC.

Deletion - Removal of one or more nucleotides

Addition - When you add another base into the DNA sequence, this can result in a frame shift which may change the amino acid that is coded for.

Duplication - One or multiple bases are repeated

Translocation - A piece of DNA breaks off and doesn't reattach to itself or its homologous pair.

Inversion - A sequence of bases is separated and then reattached in the inverse order.

If you have a DNA sequence that codes for a protein and is 105 nucleotides long. A framshift mutation occurs at the <img src="ht
katrin [286]

Answer:

28 amino acids

Explanation:

When you have a frameshift mutation means that the protein will no longer be complete due to a signal of stop or another start signal in the sequence. The protein will not be the same as before the mutation occurs. If a sequence is 105 nucleotides long means that the amino acids that comprise the protein are 35 (each amino acid comes from a combination of 3 nucleotides, 105/3=35). When a mutation occurs in 85th base there are 20 bases that do not work well or that will not be correct (105-85=20). So, when you don't take into account those 20 bases, the sequence will be correct until 84th base pair, and, as the amino acids come from a mix of 3 bases 84/3=28.
