X=8.

Following the similarity statement, we know that AC is to DF as BC is to EF.  The ratio would be:

24/(x-2) = 20/5

Cross multiply:
24*5 = 20(x-2)

Use the distributive property:
120 = 20x - 40

Add 40 to both sides:
120+40 = 20x - 40 + 40
160 = 20x

Divide both sides by 20:
160/20 = 20x/20
8 = x

Solve the equation f/3+22=17
andrezito [222]
1) f/3 + 22 = 17

2) f/3 + 22 - 22 = 17 - 22

= f/3 = -5

3) 3 • f/3 = 3(-5)

= f = 3(-5)

= f = -15

Your answer would be f = -15

Work out the value of 10^2-4^3 .give your answer as a power of 6
Fittoniya [83]

Answer:

Answer: 6^2

Step-by-step explanation:

Givens

  • Express the integers raised to a power as integers.
  • 10^2 = 100
  • 4^3 = 64

Solution

  • Subtract 64 (which is 4^3) from 100. See if what is left is a power of  6
  • 100 - 64 = 36      Yes the remainder is 36
  • 36 = 6*6 = 6^2

A bowl contains 4 tangerines and 5 clementines. John randomly selects one piece of fruit, and then Pam randomly selects one of t
Drupady [299]

Answer:

5/18

Step-by-step explanation:

There are 9 pieces of fruit in the bowl,  tangerines and 5 clementines.

Assuming that they do not put the fruit back

P (tangerine) = number of tangerines/ total = 4/9

Then John keeps his and there are  8 pieces of fruit in the bowl,

3 tangerines and 5 clementines.

P (Clementine) = number of clementines/ total = 5/8

P (tangerine, no replacement, Clementine) = P (tangerine) * P (Clementine)

                                                                       = 4/9 * 5/8 =5/18
