Answer:

Decrease the fixed cost

or

Increase the contribution margin by either increasing the selling price or decreasing the variable cost.

Explanation:

Assuming The values

Selling Price = $10

Variable cost  = $5

Fixed Cost  = $100

Contribution  = $10 - $5 = $5

Current Break-even = 100 / $5 = 20 units or $200 (20x$10)

Break even analysis formula = Fixed Cost / ( Sales Price per unit - Variable cost per unit )

Desire of 20% profit can be incorporation in Break-even analysis as follows

Desired Profit = $200 x 20% = $40

Reduce the fixed cost by $40

Revised Fixed cost  =$100 - $40 = $60

Sales = ( Desired Profit + fixed cost ) / Contribution

20 units = ( $40 + $60 ) / $5

20 units = $100 / $5

20 units = 20 units

Reduce the fixed cost by $40

Increase contribution by  $7

There are two options to increase Contribution

Increase in sale price = $12 - $5 = $7

Decrease in Variable cost = $10- $3 = $7

=$100 - $40 = $60

Sales = ( Desired Profit + fixed cost ) / Contribution

20 units = ( $40 + $100 ) / $7

20 units = $140 / $7

20 units = 20 units

Grear Tire Company has produced a new tire with an estimated mean lifetime mileage of 36,500 miles. Management also believes tha
gladu [14]

Answer:

1. The expected cost of production for each tire sold is $0.013 per tire.

2. Probability that Grear will refund more than $50 for a tire is 0.0107

Explanation;

1. Mileage is 36,500 miles

Standard deviation is 5,000 miles

Observed miles is 30,000 miles

100 miles failed at $1

Therefore;

(36,500 - 30,000) /5,000 = 1.3

To get the cost of production,

Since 100 miles equals $1 if fail

1.3 × 1 / 100

= $0.013 per tire.

2. P(Z<25,000 - 36,500/5,000)

= P(Z<-11,500/5,000)

=Z<2.3

Therefore,

1-0.9893

=0.0107

The probability that Grear will refund more than $50 for a tire is 0.0107

XYZ Company ended year 1 with accounts receivable of $100,000. On February 1, Year 2 XYZ provided services on account for $40,00
avanturin [10]

Answer:

Account at December 31th, Year 2: 210,000

Explanation:

We work this using the following reasoning

beginning accounts receivable

<u>+ sales on accounts </u>

Total amount to collect

<u>- collection through the period</u>

ending accounts receivable

year 2

beginning accounts receivable 100,000

+ February 1st sale on account   40,000

+ November 1st sale on account <u>70,000</u>

total amount to collect               210,000

As we are not given with any data for collection we assume is zero.

Therefore ending AR balance:

210,000 - 0 = 210,000

A manager must make a decision on shipping. There are two shippers, A and B. Both offer a two-day rate: A for $510 and B for $52
Sveta_85 [38]

Answer:

The supplier should ship 2 days using B as it yields the lowest cost.

Explanation:

Base on the scenario been described in the question, we can use the following method to solve the question

Units 410

Unit price $ 156.00

total cost of product to be shipped = (Unit price * Units) = 410*156 $ 63,960.00

Holding cost = 39% ,39%*63960 $ 24,944.400

Holding cost for 1 day = 24944.40/365 $ 68.341

Shipper A

Alternative Shippping cost Holding days Holding days * Holding cost for 1 day Total cost = Shipping + holding cost

2-Day $ 538.00 2 $ 136.682 $ 674.68

3 day $ 472.00 3 $ 205.022 $ 677.02

9 day $ 406.00 9 $ 615.067 $ 1,021.07

Shipper b

Alternative Shippping cost Holding days Holding days * Holding cost for 1 day Total cost = Shipping + holding cost

2-Day $ 529.00 2 $ 136.682 $ 665.68

4 day $ 455.00 4 $ 273.363 $ 728.36

7 Day $ 428.00 7 $ 478.386 $

A public good Multiple Choice is available to all and cannot be denied to anyone. can be profitably produced by private firms. i
lara31 [8.8K]

Answer:

is available to all and cannot be denied to anyone.

Explanation:

Public goods are both nonexcludable and nonrivalrous. This means that everyone is entitled to use them and when someone is using them it doesn't mean others can't use them at the same time. Of course there is always a limit to the capacity of their use, like roads can only be used by certain amount of cars.

For this particular characteristic of public goods is that private firms don't offer them. Private firms' main concern is making the largest possible profit and public goods usually aren't profitable. That is why the government has to provide public goods since no one else will.
