1. Give TWO examples of how the location of terrestrial biomes and how they are determined by both biotic and abiotic factors.

The terrestrial biomes depend on the type of land on which the biome will be formed.

Two of the examples of terrestrial biomes are:

• Desert biome: A desert biome will be formed in areas where there is little to no water. The biotic components of such a biome are adapted to live in harsh conditions. The plants are adapted to use little water and animals can survive with little water and can also store water in their bodies.

• Tundra: Plants and animals in this biome are adapted to survive in extreme cold temperatures. Animals, like the polar bears, have fur on their bodies which keep the heat insulated in them.

Answer No 2:

Both the biotic and abiotic components of a biome are dependent on each other.

Some of the ways by which abiotic factors might be affecting the biotic factors of an aquatic ecosystem are:

Temperature: More number of organisms will be able to survive in the rivers when the temperatures are moderate. During extreme conditions, lesser number of aquatic species will be able to survive.

Sunlight: There will be more aquatic plants in the area of the ocean which receives more sunlight. These plants will  be  a source of food for many aquatic animals. Hence, there will be more diversity in areas of the river which receive more sunlight.
