The Magna Carta place limits on the power of England's monarchy. It contains the promise that laws were good and fair. It states that everyone shall have access to courts and that costs and money should not be an issue if someone wanted to take a problem to the courts of law.

The Magna Carta also states that no freeman will be imprisoned or punished without first going through the proper legal system. It also contains how the Magna Carta will be enforce in England. Twenty-five barons were given the responsibility to ensure that the King carries out the provisions stated in the Magna Carta and that they can use force if they felt it necessary in the execution of said provisions.
