Imperative sentences usually end with a period but can occasionally end with an exclamation point. These sentences are sometimes referred to as directives because they provide direction to whomever is being addressed.

Below, you'll find some examples of imperative sentences. Note that each line is issuing a command of some sort.

Pass the salt.

Move out of my way!

Shut the front door.

Find my leather jacket.

Be there at five.

Clean your room.

Complete these by tomorrow.

Consider the red dress.

Wait for me.

Get out!

Make sure you pack warm clothes.

Choose Eamonn, not Seamus.

Please be quiet.

Be nice to your friends.

Play ball!

Svetach [21]
The type of figurative language that is used in the sentence from George Orwell's novel Keep the Aspidistra Flying is a metaphor. A metaphor is a figure of speech that compares two different things in an implied way. In this line, the public is compared to a swine and advertising is compared to the rattling of a stick inside a swill-bucket.

Since you are writing a poem, how will you use metaphors? (ASAP!! im timed!!)
aleksley [76]

The independant clause mean the simple subject which says that you can read a part of a sentence that makes a lot of sense. So in this sentence "Since you are writing a poem, how will you use metaphors?"

The dependent clause is the one that makes no sense while being alone.

In this sentence the dependent clause is Since you are writing a poem.

It makes no sense all alone in one sentence.

Now for the actual question answer is the independent clause.

The independent clause is how will you use metaphors?

I think that is the independent clause because it really makes sense even though it's a part of the question.
