A tragedy is a form of drama that focuses on human suffering. Tragedies, therefore, are usually sad stories. Moreover, tragedies tend to present stories in which the main character, or protagonist, dies. As a genre, tragedy was first developed in Western culture by the Greeks. However, it continues to be one of the most important types of drama ever developed.
