Point M is between points L and N on line LN. LN = 6x, LM = 4x + 8 and MN =27. Use the information to solve for x, and then find LN.

Solution :

According to the question,

LM + MN = LN,

$(4x + 8 ) + 27 = 6x \\ = > 4x + 35 = 6x \\ = > 4x - 6x = - 35 \\ = > - 2x = - 35 \\ = > x = \frac{35}{2} \\ = > x = 17.5$

Therefore, the value of x is 17.5 units

LN = 6x

$6x = 6 \times 17.5 \\ = 105$

LN = 105 units.
