In the case of 1959 Tinker versus Des Moines students started a protest against the Vietnam War using an armband, but the school threat to suspend them if they wore the armband, the parents of the children began a legal fight with the school, as a result the parents of the children took the case to Supreme Court which ruled a decision that guarantees and protects the right of free speech and self-expression of students in public school.
