If the Earth did not have velocity horizontal to the pull of the Sun’s gravity, what would happen and why?

Biology

The Earth would lose its gravitational pull to the Sun and the planet would slowly detach from our solar system, all plant life on earth would slowly die, due to no sunlight. Our planet(Earth) would slowly decrease in temperature, due to the ultra violet rays of the sun not being present anymore in our atmosphere. And soon all life on Earth would die because all the food would be dead, even the animals because animals need plants to survive

What is NOT an impact that an invasive non-native species has on an ecosystem?
Elza [17]

D) increases reproduction of native species

Explanation:

Non-invasive or non-native species or exotic species do not increase the reproduction rate of native species.

In fact, studies have shown that they reduce the rate of reproduction of the native ones.

  • Invasive species where they are successful are huge threat to the stability of an ecosystem.
  • Some invasive species are capable of destroying habitats by substituting for their functional roles.
  • They compete with native species. In some cases, where an invasive specie is a predator, it preys on the native ones.
  • Invasive species are capable of destroying the food source in an ecosystem.

Bacteriorhodopsin pumps protons across the bacterial plasma membrane from the cytosolic side to the extracellular side of the me
julsineya [31]

Answer: Option B.

B. The chromaphore retinal absorbs a photon of light, causing a double bond in retinal to isomerize from trans to cis configuration.

Explanation:

Bacteriorhodopsin is a protein used by archaea or half bacteria that pumps proton across membrane by using the light energy from sun to move protons across membrane. It is found in purple membrane of archaea cells which is known as two dimensional crystalline patches.

It captures photon energy through chromophore retina which is covalently bound and transporting the photons against their electrochemical gradients from the cytoplasm to the extracellular space.

A bird is flying over a field. What will most likely happen if a toxin causes the
myrzilka [38]

Answer:

B. The bird will stop flying because it will quickly use up its remaining

energy.

Explanation:

This is because the mitochondria is known as the power house of cells. Oxidative phosphorylation takes place in this organelle and it involves the conversion of ADP to ATP through the hydrogen ions(protons).

When the hydrogen ion channel is blocked, energy production in cells stop.

This is why the bird will stop flying as it would have used up its remaining energy and won’t have a new one to use to continue flying.
