The final major claim against veganism is that it is just some kind of radical environmental movement in disguise; that in fact,

veganism does not protect the environment. This claim is pretty ridiculous. Why? Because meat production actually takes a massive toll on our planet. How massive? Well, according to a United Nations report cited on the Mother Nature Network site, the production, consumption, and disposal of meat results in — get ready — 70 percent of the world's water consumption, a full 38 percent of the world's land use, and almost 20 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions. Which statement best evaluates the author's response to the counterclaim that veganism is not better for the environment?
A. The author's response is effective because he provides facts about the damage meat production does to the environment.
B. The author's response is ineffective because he makes outrageous claims about meat production and its effect on the planet.
C. The author's response is effective because he shows that the environmental movement is opposed to veganism.
D. The author's response is ineffective because he neglects to respond to the counterclaim and instead lists more facts.

Make a new prediction based on the new information. At some point, Dr. Lanyon will make a startling revelation concerning Dr. Jekyll.

What the reader to support the inference?

The reader should always provide evidence to back up any inferences they make.

Some knowledge is gained by direct observation or experience. In contrast, when we draw inferences, we come at conclusions supported by logic and facts. We solve problems by applying our personal expertise and experience to the current circumstance. If teachers can assist students in understanding when facts are implied or not explicitly stated, their capacity to infer information and draw conclusions will rise.

A complex skill that will improve with practice and time is inferential thinking. Higher-order thinking requires inference, which is a precondition.

What about a modern performance of a Shakespearean play could be changed without affecting the play's meaning?
Amanda [17]

Answer:

We could change the language and adapt it to reflect the contemporary English we use nowadays. That would make the play more understandable, especially for the young people and wake up their interest for the theatre.

We could change the setting, that is, time and place of some plays and adapt it to contemporary surroundings, without changing the topic of the plays, as Shakespearean problems and inner struggles are still present in the 21st century, only in different ways.

For example, we could change characters' professions or some circumstances without changing the plot of the story. Or, perhaps, try to represent some contemporary family issues, by readapting Hamlet into a boy who is fighting against his stepfather.

How did you react to the revelation that Vladek and Anja had been trapped? Were you
Juli2301 [7.4K]

The revelation that Vladeck and Anja were under arrest is shocking to the reader, as the story creates hope that they will manage to escape without being arrested.

Although you have not shown the text to which this question refers, we can see from the context of the question that you are referring to "Maus" by Art Spiegelman , a biographical graphic novel, which recounts the journey of Vladeck and Anja, two Polish Jews who survived the holocaust.

Reading the graph novel reveals the following information:

 • Jews gradually lost rights and freedoms.
 • Anja and Vladeck, suffered all these losses, reaching the point where they needed to stay hidden to avoid being arrested and taken to concentration camps.
 • The hiding places were too dangerous.
 • Anja and Vadeck received an offer to travel to Hungary with a middleman, as Hungary had not been invaded by Nazi forces.
 • The middleman was working alongside the Nazis and tricked Vladeck and Anja.
 • At the beginning of the trip to Hungary, the middleman informed the Nazis that Vladeck and Anja were on the train.
 • At that point, they were arrested and taken to concentration camps.

During the reading, the reader is apprehensive about the persecution that Anja and Vladeck suffer and creates an empathy for them, reaching the point that the reader wants them to manage to flee to Hugria. In this case, when they are arrested the reader is surprised, as they are surprised and saddened, as they had proof that the middleman was a trustworthy person and that the trip was safe.
