So what you do is you circle 7m -15 8m +20 and -m then you combine like terms which is 7m, 8m -m. -m has a -1 in front so you do 7 + 8 -1 which equals. 14 so then you combine -15 and 20 so -15 + 20 equals 35 so m= 35 hope this helps :)

I need help with this
marysya [2.9K]
Plug in -8 for x to get 8(-8)+8y=-48. then you have -64+8y=-48. add 64 to the right side of the equation to get 16. now you have 8y=16. divide by 8 to have the variable by itself so y=2.

If f(x)=2x^2+3x−4, and g(x)=−8x−4, what does f(x)+g(x) equal?
padilas [110]

Answer:

f(x) + g(x) = 2x² - 5x - 8 ⇒ 2nd answer

Step-by-step explanation:

* Lets explain how to solve the problem

- We can add to functions by adding the like terms in them

∵ f(x) = 2x² + 3x - 4

- f(x) is a quadratic function because the greatest power of x is 2

∵ g(x) = -8x - 4

- g(x) is a linear function because the greatest power of x is 1

∵ f(x) + g(x) means (f + g)(x)

∴ f(x) + g(x) = (2x² + 3x - 4) + (-8x - 4)

- Add the like terms

∵ 3x + -8x = -5x

∵ -4 + -4 = -8

∴ f(x) + g(x) = 2x² + -5x + -8

- Remember (+)(-) = (-)

∴ f(x) + g(x) = 2x² - 5x - 8

* f(x) + g(x) = 2x² - 5x - 8
