How to find the midpoint of a line segment with 2 given point?

If the 2 given points are endpoints, then we're in business.  The formula for the midpoint is M=( \frac{ x_{1}+ x_{2} }{2}, \frac{ y_{1} + y_{2} }{2}).  If the endpoints of our segment are the coordinates (1,2) and (12,14), our formula would be filled in as follows: M=( \frac{1+12}{2}, \frac{2+14}{2}) which simplifies to (13/2, 8).  See?  It's pretty simple once you know how to do it.

Cloud [144]

Answer:

z=\frac{13-20}{4}=-1.75

Assuming:

H0: \mu \geq 20

H1: \mu

p_v = P(Z

Step-by-step explanation:

The binomial distribution is a "DISCRETE probability distribution that summarizes the probability that a value will take one of two independent values under a given set of parameters. The assumptions for the binomial distribution are that there is only one outcome for each trial, each trial has the same probability of success, and each trial is mutually exclusive, or independent of each other".

Let X the random variable of interest (number of correct answers in the test), on this case we now that:

X \sim Binom(n=100, p=0.2)

The probability mass function for the Binomial distribution is given as:

P(X)=(nCx)(p)^x (1-p)^{n-x}

Where (nCx) means combinatory and it's given by this formula:

nCx=\frac{n!}{(n-x)! x!}

We need to check the conditions in order to use the normal approximation.

np=100*0.2=20 \geq 10

n(1-p)=20*(1-0.2)=16 \geq 10

So we see that we satisfy the conditions and then we can apply the approximation.

If we appply the approximation the new mean and standard deviation are:

E(X)=np=100*0.2=20

\sigma=\sqrt{np(1-p)}=\sqrt{100*0.2(1-0.2)}=4

So we can approximate the random variable X like this:

X\sim N(\mu =20, \sigma=4)

Normal distribution, is a "probability distribution that is symmetric about the mean, showing that data near the mean are more frequent in occurrence than data far from the mean".

The Z-score is "a numerical measurement used in statistics of a value's relationship to the mean (average) of a group of values, measured in terms of standard deviations from the mean".  The letter \phi(b) is used to denote the cumulative area for a b quantile on the normal standard distribution, or in other words: \phi(b)=P(z

The z score is given by this formula:

z=\frac{x-\mu}{\sigma}

If we replace we got:

z=\frac{13-20}{4}=-1.75

Let's assume that we conduct the following test:

H0: \mu \geq 20

H1: \mu

We want to check is the score for the student is significantly less than the expected value using random guessing.

So on this case since we have the statistic we can calculate the p value on this way:

p_v = P(Z

A box is x to inches high,(2x+3)inches wide, and (2x+5) of inches long. In terms of x, what is the volume (v) of the box?
Advocard [28]

Answer:

The volume of the box is V=(4x^3+16x^2+15x)\ in^3

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

The volume of the box is equal to

V=LWH

where

L is the length of the box in inches

W is the width of the box in inches

H is the height of the box in inches

we have

L=(2x+5)\ in\\W=(2x+3)\ in\\H=x\ in

substitute in the formula

V=(2x+5)(2x+3)x

V=(4x^2+6x+10x+15)(x)

V=(4x^2+16x+15)(x)

V=(4x^3+16x^2+15x)\ in^3

A crew will arrive in one week and begin filming a city for a movie. The mayor is desperate to clean the city streets before fil
Zigmanuir [339]

Answer:

See below in bold.

Step-by-step explanation:

You work in fractions of the city streets done per hour:

1/200 + 1/400 = 1 /x  where x is the number of hours taken by 2 teams.

Multiply through by the LCM 400x:

2x + x = 400

3x = 400

x =  133.33 hours.

As there are 168 hours in a week they will have enough time.

Imani's rent increased from $560 per month to $600 per month. Her friend, Ariana, had her rent increase
Kipish [7]

Answer:

Imani's rent had a higher percent increase

Step-by-step explanation:

A change from 560 to 600 represents a positive change (increase) of 7.1428571429%

A change from 825 to 875 represents a positive change (increase) of 6.0606060606%

Percent change = New - Old /825 × 100

Suppose James randomly draws a card from a standard deck of 52 cards. He then places it back into the deck and draws a second ca
qwelly [4]

Answer:

1.92%

Step-by-step explanation:

The probability for first case, picking a queen out of deck, will be:

\frac{4}{52}

as there will be 4 queens in a deck, one of each suit.

For the second pick, the probability of picking a diamond card, will be:

\frac{13}{52}

here the total will remain 52 as he has replaced the first card and not kept it aside and there will be 13 cards in diamond suit (including the three face cards).

Thus the net probability for both cases will be:

P = \frac{4}{52}  * \frac{13}{52}\\ P = \frac{1}{52}\\ P = 0.01923\\P = 1.923\%\\\\P = 1.92\%

Thus total probability for the combined two cases will be 1.92%
