We're going to be using combination since this question is asking how many different combinations of 10 people can be selected from a set of 23.

We would only use permutation if the order of the people in the committee mattered, which it seems it doesn't.

Formula for combination:

C(n,r)=\dfrac{n!}{(n-r)!r!}

Where n represents the number of objects/people in the set and r represents the number of objects/people being chosen from the set

There are 23 people in the set and 10 people being chosen from the set

C(23,10)=\dfrac{23!}{(23-10)!10!}

=\dfrac{23!}{13!\times10!}

Usually I would prefer solving such fractions by hand instead of a calculator, but factorials can result in large numbers and there is too much multiplication. Using a calculator, we get

=1,144,066

Thus, there are 1,144,066 different 10 person committees that can be selected from a pool of 23 people. Let me know if you need any clarifications, thanks!

8x + 3y = 45 * -2 Negative
2x + 3y = 27 * 8 Positive

-16x - 6y = 90
16x + 24y = 216

24y is equal to 216
y is equal to 216/or 24
y is equal to 9

Which means:
8 + 3y = 216
y = 216/24
y = 9

8x + 3y = 45
8x + 3 (Which is 9) = 45

So the Answer is:
8x=45 - 27
8x= 18
X=18/8
X= 2.25

Hope this helps you

Find the equilibrium point for the pair of supply and demand functions. Demand: q=18/x Supply: q=x/2
storchak [24]

Answer:

The equilibrium point is at x = 6

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Demand (q) = \frac{18}{x}

Supply (q) = \frac{x}{2}

Required

Determine the equilibrium point

The equilibrium point is determined by

Demand = Supply

Substitute values for Demand and Supply

\frac{18}{x} = \frac{x}{2}

Cross Multiply

x * x =  18 * 2

x^2 = 36

Take positive square root of both sides

x = 6

Hence;

<em>The equilibrium point is at x = 6</em>

A circle with radius of 2 cm sits inside a 11 cm x 12cm rectangle. What is the area of the shaded region
Viefleur [7K]

Answer:

Area of shaded region = 119.44 cm²

Step-by-step explanation:

Area of circle = πr²

= 3.14 × 2²

= 3.14 × 2 ×2

= 12.56 cm²

Area of rectangle = length × breadth

= 11cm × 12cm

= 132 cm²

Area of shaded region = Area of rectangle - Area of circle

= (132 - 12.56) cm²

= 119.44 cm²

Joseph's flock has 55%
Mkey [24]

Answer:

20 : 31

Step-by-step explanation:

If one calls the number of goats in the given situation (x), then one can model the situation. Since the number of sheep is 55% more than the number of goats, then one can say that the number of goats times (1.55) is equal to the number of sheep.

goats : sheep

x : 1.55x

Simplify, divide by (x)

1 : 1.55

Multiply by (100) to make both numbers whole numbers,

100 : 155

Simplify, divide by (5)

20 : 31
