HNO3 is an Arrhenius acid and increases the concentration of what??? when added to water.
sineoko [7]
When nitric acid is added to water, the concentration of hydronium ions would increase since the nitric acid dissociates into ions, the hydronium ions and the nitrate ions. Hope this answers the question. Have a nice day. Feel free to ask more questions.

Describe how sodium conducts thermal energy. [3 Marks]
Vera_Pavlovna [14]

In metals, some of the electrons (often one per atom) are not stuck to individual atoms but flow freely among the atoms. Of course, that's why metals are such good conductors of electricity. Now if one end of a bar is hot, and the other is cold, the electrons on the hot end have a little more thermal energy- random jiggling- than the ones on the cold end. So as the electrons wander around, they carry energy from the hot end to the cold end, which is another way of saying they conduct heat.

Here, sodium is a metal which possesses an extra (valence) electron carries the heat around its body as it is a free electron, which enables sodium to conduct thermal energy.

Hope this help :)

What would be the pressure of a 5.00 mol sample of Cl₂ at 400.0 K in a 2.00 L container found using the van der Waals equation?
marusya05 [52]

Answer:

57.478atm

Explanation:

T = 400k

n = 5mol

v = 2.00

a = 6.49L^{2}

b = 0.0652L/mol

R = 0.08206

Formula

P =  \frac{RT}{(\frac{v}{n} )-b} - \frac{a}{(\frac{v}{n} )^{2} }

P = \frac{0.08206 * 400}{(\frac{2.00}{5.00} )-0.0652} - \frac{6.49}{(\frac{2.00}{5.00} )^{2} }

P = \frac{32.824}{0.3348} - \frac{6.49}{0.16}

P = 98.041 - 40.563

P = 57.478atm

Suppose 650 mL of hydrogen gas are produced through a displacement reaction involving solid iron and sulfuric acid, H2SO4, at ST
scoray [572]

Answer:

                      4.415 g of FeSO₄

Explanation:

                   The balance chemical equation for given single replacement reaction is as follow;

                                  Fe + H₂SO₄ → FeSO₄ + H₂

Data Given;

                  Volume =  650 mL  =  0.65 L

                  Density at STP =  0.08988 g/L

                  Mass = Density × Volume = 0.08988 g/L × 0.65 L = 0.0584 g

Step 1: <u>Calculate Moles of H₂ as;  </u>

                  Moles  =  Mass / M.Mass

                  Moles  =  0.0584 g / 2.01 g/mol

                  Moles  =  0.0290 mol of H₂

Step 2: <u>Find out moles of FeSO₄ as;</u>

According to balance chemical equation,

            1 mole of H₂ is produced along with  =  1 mole of FeSO₄

So,

   0.0290 moles of H₂ will be produced along with  =  X moles of FeSO₄

Solving for X,

                    X  =  0.0290 × 1 mol / 1 mol

                    X =  0.0290 moles of FeSO₄

Step 3: <u>Calculate mass of FeSO₄ as;</u>

                   Mass  =  Moles × M.Mass

                   Mass  =  0.0290 mol × 151.90 g/mol

                   Mass  =  4.415 g of FeSO₄

Who was the first person to show strong empirical evidence for the existence of atoms?.
Mekhanik [1.2K]

Given what we know, we can confirm that John Dalton was the first person to show strong empirical evidence for the existence of atoms.

<h3>Who was John Dalton?</h3>
  • He was a renowned scientist with knowledge in many fields.
  • He was known to be a chemist, meteorologist, and physicist.
  • He proposed the atomic theory and carried out experiments to provide supporting evidence.

Therefore, given his proposal of the atomic theory and the experiments he carried out to provide evidence to support his claims, we can confirm that John Dalton was the first person to show strong empirical evidence for the existence of atoms.
