A few minutes before undergoing stressful activities such as weight training, jogging, swimming or even a dance class, the body needs to be "warned." And that's where warming comes in, which should include about 15 repetitions of the same movement.

Warming up should be done before any sport and it will raise body temperature, heart rate, respiration and blood pressure and will cause vasodilation that will bring more oxygen to the muscles and promote an aerobic metabolism (which consumes oxygen).

A 10 minute warm up routine is quite efficient. On colder days, it is best to warm up for a little longer.

  • The exercise that will be practiced.
  • The time available to warm up.
