Simplify the expression √12

Mathematics

The answer is 2 \sqrt{3}

The reason this is so is because when we are looking to simplify an expression such as this we have to break the radicand up into a product of known factors. Here are the factors of 12:

1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12

In this case, what is ideal is if we can find a factor of 12 that is a perfect square.

A perfect square is any number that is equal to any number being multiplied by itself. Some examples are:

1 × 1 = 1 , 1 is a perfect square
2 × 2 = 4, 4 is a perfect square
3 × 3 = 9, 9 is a perfect square
4 × 4 = 16, 16 is a perfect square
.
.
.
In the factors of 12, we have 4, which can be broken down into 2 × 2

So, we could change \sqrt{12} into \sqrt{2 *2*3}

Let's continue to simplify:

\sqrt{2^2*3}..........................combine 2*2 into 2^{2}

2\sqrt{3}................................\sqrt{2^2} is redundant and is equal to 2, so your left with 3 under the radical since it cannot be simplified any more

And that's your answer and how you get it! I hope this helped and have an amazing rest of your day! Feel free to contact me if you have anymore questions and I will do my best to help! :)

Let D = {-48, -14, -8, 0, 1, 3, 16, 23, 26, 32, 36} Determine which of the following statements are true and which are false. a)
morpeh [17]

Answer:

\forall x\in D if x is odd then x> 0 is true statement.

\forall x\in D if x is odd then x> 0 is true statement.

\forall x\in D if x is even then x≤0 is false statement.

\forall x\in D If the ones digit of x is 2, then the tens digit is 3 or 4 is true statement.

\forall x\in D if the ones digit of x is 6, then the tens digit is 1 or 2 is false statement.

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider the provided information.

D = {-48, -14, -8, 0, 1, 3, 16, 23, 26, 32, 36}

Part (A) \forall x\in D if x is odd then x> 0

Here only even numbers are less than 0 that means the statement is true.

\forall x\in D if x is odd then x> 0 is true statement.

Part (B) \forall x\in D if x is less than 0 then x is even.

Here only even numbers are less than 0 that means the statement is true.

\forall x\in D if x is odd then x> 0 is true statement.

Part (C) \forall x\in D if x is even then x≤0

Here we can see that 16, 26, 32, 36 are even number and also greater than 0. Thus the statement is false.

\forall x\in D if x is even then x≤0 is false statement.

Part (D) \forall x\in D If the ones digit of x is 2, then the tens digit is 3 or 4.

There is only one number whose ones digit is 2. i.e. 32 also the tens digit of the number 32 is 3. Which makes the above statement true.

\forall x\in D If the ones digit of x is 2, then the tens digit is 3 or 4 is true statement.

Part (E) \forall x\in D if the ones digit of x is 6, then the tens digit is 1 or 2.

Numbers having ones digit 6 are: 16, 26 and 36

Here, the tens digits are 1, 2 and 3 which is contradict to our statement. Hence the provided statement is false.

\forall x\in D if the ones digit of x is 6, then the tens digit is 1 or 2 is false statement.

In ΔUVW, the measure of ∠W=90°, WV = 24, UW = 7, and VU = 25. What is the value of the sine of ∠U to the nearest hundredth?
Alika [10]

Answer:

sinU = 0.96

Step-by-step explanation:

25 is 32 percent of what number?
Reptile [31]
The answer is:  " 0.78125 " .
_____________________________________________
32% = 32/100 = 32÷100 = 0.32 ;

(0.32)n = 25 ; solve for "n" ;

32 n = 25 ;

32 n / 32 = 25/ 32 ;

n = 25/32 = 0.78125
