According to the Two-Factor theory developed by the psychologist Stanley Schachter, the emotions need from two different factors to be presented or expressed by an individual.
In the first place, it is necessary to have an external stimuli that causes a psychological response, then the individual processes the psychological response through a cognitive appreciation in order to create a relationship with the already known possible responses that are in the final step expressed as emotions.
This seems to make sense because they would most likely want to keep it there but not get it wanting the food. A-C would probably make it mad and they typically leave people alone if they aren't antagonized.
