By dating the rocks in the ever-changing crust, as well as neighbors such as the moon and visiting meteorites, scientists have calculated that Earth is 4.54 billion years old, with an error range of 50 million years.

Describe evidence from biogeography that species evolve adaptations to their environment
Romashka [77]

Answer:

Biogeography, the study of the geographical distribution of organisms, provides information about how and when species may have evolved. Fossils provide evidence of long-term evolutionary changes, documenting the past existence of species that are now extinct.

To give one classic example, the forelimbs of whales, humans, and birds look quite different on the outside. That's because they're adapted to function in different environments. However, if you look at the bone structure of the forelimbs, you'll find that the organization of the bones is remarkably similar across species. It's unlikely that such similar structures would have evolved independently in each species, and more likely that the basic layout of bones was already present in a common ancestor of whales, humans, and birds.

Which best describes the sex chromosomes in humans?
Amanda [17]

Answer: Option D )Males have two different chromosomes.

Explanation:

The human males have two different chromosomes known as the XY- chromosome. Hence, a human male child receives a Y chromosome from his father with XY, and a X chromosome from his mother with XX.

Females, on the other hand have similar chromosomes (XX-chromosome), each X received from each parent.

Thus, the XY-chromosome in human males make for two different chromosomes.

How are plate tectonics formed? How do we know they exist (list 4-5 pieces of evidence)? And what are the different boundries?
olya-2409 [2.1K]
Tectonic plates are the result of the mantle cooling on the surface. At plate boundaries or "zones" occure, there are different reactions along the edges of them. Divergent is when two plates move away from one another allowing fresh molten rock to flow to the surface. This results in a volcano. Covergent boundaries are when plates come together, resulting in mountain ranges. Transforming boundaries are when they slide up against each other causing earthquakes. More examples of proof of plate tectonics is the changing of Pangea into the world as we know it and subduction zones that reveal fossils that were deeply buried under layers of earth.
