3/2 (x-2) = 15

1. Multiply 3/2 by (x-2).
3(x-2)/2 = 15 :

3x-6/7 = 15

2. Multiply 7 by both sides and canceling out the denominator on the left side.
7 (3x-6)/7 = 7(15):

3x-6 = 105

3. Subtract six from both sides.
3x-6 +6 = 105 + 6:

3x = 111

4. Divide 3 into both sides.
3x/3 = 111/3

X = 37.

Check:

1. Fill in x with your final answer.
3/7 (37-2) = 15:

3/7 (35) = 15

2. Multiply 3/7 by 35.
3/7(35) = 15:

3 (5) = 15

15 = 15

3/7 (x - 2) = 15     multiply both sides by 7/3

x - 2 = 35     add 2 to both sides

x = 37

A student S is suspected of cheating on exam, due to evidence E of cheating being present. Suppose that in the case of a cheatin
Kay [80]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Suppose we think of an alphabet X to be the Event of the evidence.

Also, if Y be the Event of cheating; &

Y' be the Event of not involved in cheating

From the given information:

P(\dfrac{X}{Y}) = 60\% = 0.6

P(\dfrac{X}{Y'}) = 0.01\% = 0.0001

P(Y) = 0.01

Thus, P(Y') \ will\ be = 1 - P(Y)

P(Y') = 1 - 0.01

P(Y') = 0.99

The probability of cheating & the evidence is present is = P(YX)

P(YX) = P(\dfrac{X}{Y}) \ P(Y)

P(YX) =0.6 \times 0.01

P(YX) =0.006

The probabilities of not involved in cheating & the evidence are present is:

P(Y'X) = P(Y')  \times P(\dfrac{X}{Y'})

P(Y'X) = 0.99  \times 0.0001 \\ \\  P(Y'X) = 0.000099

(b)

The required probability that the evidence is present is:

P(YX  or Y'X) = 0.006 + 0.000099

P(YX  or Y'X) = 0.006099

(c)

The required probability that (S) cheat provided the evidence being present is:

Using Bayes Theorem

P(\dfrac{Y}{X}) = \dfrac{P(YX)}{P(Y)}

P(\dfrac{Y}{X}) = \dfrac{P(0.006)}{P(0.006099)}

P(\dfrac{Y}{X}) = 0.9838

Wittaler [7]

Assuming Earth's gravity, the formula for the flight of the particle is:

s(t) = -16t^2 + vt + s = -16t^2 + 144t + 160.

This has a maximum when t = -b/(2a) = -144/[2(-16)] = -144/(-32) = 9/2.

Therefore, the maximum height is s(9/2) = -16(9/2)^2 + 144(9/2) + 160 = 484 feet.

What simple interest rate is needed for $6,000 to earn $1,000 in 15 months
Mekhanik [1.2K]

let's recall that a year has 12 months, so 15  months is really 15/12 years.

\bf ~~~~~~ \textit{Simple Interest Earned} \\\\ I = Prt\qquad \begin{cases} I=\textit{interest earned}\dotfill&\$1000\\ P=\textit{original amount deposited}\dotfill & \$6000\\ r=rate\to r\%\to \frac{r}{100}\\ t=years\to \frac{15}{12}\dotfill &\frac{5}{4} \end{cases}

\bf 1000=(6000)r\left( \cfrac{5}{4} \right)\implies 1000=7500r\implies \cfrac{1000}{7500}=r\implies \cfrac{2}{15}=r \\\\\\ \stackrel{\textit{converting that to a percentage}}{\cfrac{2}{15}\cdot 100 = r\implies \cfrac{40}{3}=r}\implies \stackrel{\%~\hfill }{13.\overline{3}}=r
