A 6.0 L sample of nitrogen gas contains 0.50 mole of a gas. If enough gas is added to make a total of 0.75 moles at the same pre

ssure and temperature, what is the resulting total volume of the gas?

Answer:

9.0 L.

Explanation:

 • To solve this problem, we should use the general gas law of ideal gas:

PV = nRT.

where,

P is the pressure of the gas in (atm).

V is the volume of the gas in (L).

n is the no. of moles of the gas (mol).

R is the general constant for gases (R = 0.082 L.atm/mol.K).

T is the temperature of the gas in (K).

 • Since the P, T and R are constants, the variables are V and n.

∴ V₁n₂ = V₂n₁.

V₁ = 6.0 L & n₁ = 0.50 mol.

V₂ = ??? L & n₂ = 0.75 mol.

∴ V₂ = (V₁n₂) / (n₁) = (6.0 L)(0.75 mol) / (0.50 mol) = 9.0 L.

When the equation H2S + HNO3 → S + NO + H2O is balanced, what is the coefficient for H2O?
Basile [38]
It isn't balanced. You have 3 *H and 3 * O, so something in the first formula must be changed. Have been searching for 1 hour and can't find the answer.

Sodium hydroxide, NaOH; sodium phosphate, Na3PO4; and sodium nitrate, NaNO3, are all common chemicals used in cleanser formulati
Sholpan [36]
Start by writing out molar mass of each component:

1) NaOH= 22.99+16+1.01 --> 40

2) Na₃PO₄= (22.99)3 + 94.97 + 64 --> 227.94

3) NaNO₃= 22.99 + 14 + 48 --> 84.99

Now compare the mass of sodium with the rest of the substances:

1) (22.99/40)100%= 57.475%

2) (68.97/227.94)/100%= 30.25%

3) (22.99/84.99)/100%= 27.05%

As seen, the ordered list is: Sodium hydroxide, sodium phosphate and sodium nitrate.

Hope I helped :)

Knowing the chemical properties of a substance will tell you how a substance
Talja [164]
This can tell you alot. its about what you are learning but it can affect the way that the substance bonds to others or how high the boiling and melting point are. hope this helps some.
