Identifying Passive Voice

English
2 answers:

Answer:

B. That book was written by one of my favorite authors.

E. In my house, fruit is often served after a meal.

Explanation:

Passive voice is formed by placing the object of the original sentence in subject position. For example, the original sentence of B would be<em> "one of my favourite authors wrote that book"</em>. It's easy to know that the subject was "one of my favourite authors" because after the verb there is a "by phrase". However, sentence E is different because the original subject is missing. So we can imagine that a person who lives in his or her house serves the fruit after meal.

Passive voice is formed with the verb "be" in past or present + the verb in the participle form. So sentences A, C, D are not passive constructions.
