Answer:

The most appropriate answer would be C) provides support for the body and protects delicate internal organs.

The skeletal system consists of bone, ligaments, cartilages and other tissues.

The main functions of a skeletal system in a human being are:

  • Support: It provides the framework and support to the body which helps in maintaining the shape of the body. For example, lungs would have collapsed in absence of rib cage and associated muscles.
  • Movement: It helps in movement and locomotion of the body.
  • Protection: It protects the internal organs of the body. For example, the skull protects the brain, vertebrate protects the spinal cord et cetera.
  • Blood cell production: Haematopoiesis mainly occurs in the bone marrow.
  • Storage: It can store minerals like iron and calcium.
  • Endocrine regulation: Osteocalcin released from bone cells contributes to the blood sugar (glucose) regulation and fat deposition.

Which part of the nephron receives fluid directly from the glomerular capsular space?
Gala2k [10]

The proximal tubule is the segment of the nephron in kidneys which begins from the renal pole of the Bowman's capsule to the beginning of loop of Henle. The glomerulus is the site in the nephron where fluid and solutes are filtered out of the blood to form a glomerular filtrate. The proximal and distal tubules, the loop of Henle, and the collecting ducts are sites for the reabsorption of water and ions. Fluid and small solutes are forced under pressure to flow from the glomerulus into the capsular space of the glomerular capsule.

Reabsorption as this filtrate passes through the tubules, specific substances are reabsorbed back into the blood of the peritubular capillaries. Bowman's capsule surrounds the glomerular capillary loops and participates in the filtration of blood from the glomerular capillaries.

Part A - Independent assortment of three genes A wild-type tomato plant (Plant 1) is homozygous dominant for three traits: solid
Effectus [21]

Law of independent assortment

Explanation:

  • There are 8 distinct phenotypes, each one has a 12,5% of appearance: Since M=solid leaves D=normal height P= smooth skin.
  • Recessive gene characters can only be taken in homozygous recessive mmddpp.

      1. MmDdPp: M=solid leaves D=normal height P= smooth skin.

     2. MmDdpp M=solid leaves D=normal height pp= peach skin.

    3. MmddPp M=solid leaves dd=dwarf height P= smooth skin.

    4. Mmddpp M=solid leaves dd=dwarf height pp= peach skin.

    5. mmDdPp mm=mottled leaves D=normal height P= smooth skin.

    6. mmDdpp mm=mottled leaves D=normal height pp= peach skin.

    7. mmddPp mm=mottled leaves dd=dwarf height P= smooth skin.

   8. mmddpp mm=mottled leaves dd=dwarf height pp= peach skin.

Hence,The answer is all eight possible phenotypes from the cross MmDdPp x mmddpp are equally likely, resulting in a phenotypic ratio of 1:1:1:1:1:1:1:1
