- Mars to Earth:
35,000,000 miles = 3.5 * 10^7 miles
- Pluto to Earth:
4,670,000,000 miles = 4.67 * 10^9 miles
- The ratio of the distances:
4.67 * 10^9 : 3.5 * 10^7 = 133.43 : 1

we have that

Mars is 35 million miles from the Earth.

Pluto is 4.67 billion miles from the Earth.

we know that

1 billion=1,000,000,000=1*10^{9}

Part 1) Express the distance from Mars to Earth in scientific notation

35\  million\ miles=35,000,000\  miles=3.5*10^{7}\  miles

therefore

the answer part 1) is

3.5*10^{7}\  miles

Part 2) Express the distance from Pluto to Earth in scientific notation

4.67\ billion\  miles=4,670,000,000\ miles=4.67*10^{9}\ miles

therefore

the answer Part 2) is

4.67*10^{9}\ miles

Part 3) Calculate the ratio of the distance from Pluto to Earth to the distance from Mars to Earth. Use scientific notation to calculate the ratio and to express your answer

ratio=\frac{4.67*10^{9}}{3.5*10^{7}}  \\  \\ ratio=\frac{4.67*10^{2}}{3.5}}\\ \\ ratio=\frac{467}{3.5} \\ \\ ratio=133.43

ratio=1.3343*10^{2}

therefore

the answer Part 3) is

1.3343*10^{2}

Will somebody please assist me what is 7x3x2+5-3=k
Svetllana [295]
In this case just do it left to right, as multiplication comes before addition/subtraction. So 7x3x2+5-3=21x2+5-3=42+5-3=47-3=44=k.

Given RT below, if S lies on RT such that the ratio of RS to ST is 3:1, find the coordinates of S.
Ksivusya [100]

Answer:

S(-2, -3)

Step-by-step explanation:

Find the diagram attached below,=. Frim the diagram, the coordinate of R and T are (-5, 3) and (-1, -5) respectively. If the ratio of RS to ST is 3:1, the coordinate of S can be gotten using the midpoint segment formula as shown;

S(X, Y) = {(ax1+bx2/a+b), (ay1+by1/a+b)} where;

x1 = -5, y1 = 3, x2 = -1, y2 = -5, a = 3 and b =1

Substitute the values into the formula;

X = ax2+bx1/a+b

X = 3(-1)+1(-5)/3+1

X = -3-5/4

X = -8/4

X = -2

Similarly;

Y = ay2+by1/a+b

Y = 3(-5)+1(3)/3+1

Y = -15+3/4

Y = -12/4

Y = -3

Hence the coordinate of the point (X, Y) is (-2, -3)

Sue bought a pair of jeans and a shirt for $55.75. If the jeans cost $25.25, how much did she pay for the shirt?
givi [52]
Hey there!

In order to find the amount that Sue paid for the shirt, all you have to do is subtract the price of the jeans from the total amount that she paid for the jeans and the shirt.

55.75 – 25.25 = 30.5

Sue paid $30.50 for the shirt, making your answer A.

Hope this helped you out! :-)
