9. Which is the pathway of oxygen from lungs into the body tissues?
Setler [38]

Answer:

The pathway of oxygen from lungs to the body tissues is alveoli → red blood cells → blood vessels → tissues (option b).

Explanation:

The oxygen (O₂) required by the tissues comes from the air inspired by the respiratory system. The pathway of entry of O₂ to the body and tissues is:

  1. O₂ from the air reaches the lungs.
  2. In the pulmonary alveoli, gas exchange occurs, that is, O₂ passes into the blood capillaries and is captured by the red blood cells, while CO₂ is released and passes into the alveoli to be eliminated.
  3. O₂ in the red blood cells travels through the blood vessels.
  4. The tissues receive the O₂ and a second gaseous exchange occurs at the tissue level, as they release CO₂ that will be carried to the alveoli.

Tissue oxygenation depends on the integrity of the respiratory and circulatory systems.

The other options do not show the correct order in which the oxygen travels from the alveoli to the tissues.

The aerobic system of energy production uses glycogen, but primarily ______ as its energy source?
Dmitry_Shevchenko [17]

The aerobic system of energy production uses glycogen, but primarily glucose as its energy source.

Glucose is taken in by the cell and broken into pyruvate in the process of glycolysis, the first step in aerobic cell respiration. It takes place in the cell cytoplasm.

Pyruvate is then used in the Krebs cycle in the cell mitochondria in the second step of respiration which produces high energy electron carriers. These high energy electron carries such as NADP are then employed in the electron transport chain, the last step of the respiration process, where a large number of ATP molecules is produced.

By the time the process of aerobic respiration ends, 36 to 38 molecules of ATP are produced from one single molecule of glucose.

A gene has the base sequence of CGT AT gave an example of a frame shift mutation on this gene
Inessa05 [86]
A frameshift mutation is a mutation which changes the sequence read and transcribed by the ribsome, also presenting the possibility of coding for the wrong amino acid. You can have two types; frameshift substitution or frameshift deletion. In a substitution, a mutation occurs, adding a new basepair and shift the sequence read to the right. In a deletion, a mutation deletes a base pair and moves the sequence read to the left.

frameshift substitution: CGG TAT
frameshift deletion: CTA T
