Adverbs modify (describe) verbs or other adverbs and often end in -ly. You need to locate the verb to determine at least one of the adverbs (the action of the sentence.) This is a complex sentence because it has an independent clause (it was not exactly what he had in mind) and a subordinate clause (when he agreed to do the task). If you just look at the independent clause, or the one that can stand by itself, you will find the verb 'was'. Ask yourself 'was what'. The answer is not, which means it is the adverb. To find the adverb describing it, we again ask, 'not what'. The answer is exactly. So the answer is A.

Tea was mainly drunk in Europe as
pychu [463]

Answer:

Well, as far as I can tell, many English people like tea, and it is also somewhat of a tradition. The “unlike the rest of Europe,” however, is just wrong.

I personally got into tea - good black tea - as a student in Bremen. Now, granted, I had some experience with some cheap-ish one back in Bulgaria (I never got to drink coffee, so I took a substitute), but Germany was where I started branching out into teas. It may seem atypical for the German stereotype, but in Bremen and Hamburg there are some great specialized tea shops. I think this is likely due to their Hanseatic heritage - as long-established trading hubs, they would be exposed to exotic goods from around the world, so something like tea or coffee would quickly find popularity as a sign of worldliness and class - remember, for most of their history the Hanseatic states were essentially run by merchants. I did not really use the opportunity, but I would expect that for much the same reason, tea would be quite popular in the Netherlands as well. Further east, there is Russia, which has its own rich tea culture. Have you heard of the samovar? When you have a special device for boiling tea and the word for it spreads to other languages, you know tea is “serious business.”

How can you prevent plagiarism?
Vika [28.1K]

Correct option is: all of these

By properly planning the research essay, by documenting the source of every fact you gather from research, by having a thorough understanding of the topic can you prevent plagiarism.

How can you prevent plagiarism?

Plagiarism is the act of taking another person's words or ideas without giving the original author full credit. Plagiarism can occur accidently, via carelessness or forgetfulness, or it can happen when someone intentionally steals another person's work.

When writing an academic paper, you build on the work of others and draw information and support from a variety of reliable sources. You must accurately cite these sources in your text to prevent plagiarism.

A problem with plagiarism might arise at several points during the writing process. Avoiding plagiarism is possible by:

 • Keeping track of the sources you consult in your research
 • Paraphrasing or quoting from your sources (and adding your own ideas)
 • Crediting the original author in an in-text citation and in your reference list
 • Using a plagiarism checker before you submit

Utilizing a plagiarism detector before submitting. Self-plagiarism can be readily avoided in a variety of ways, such as by conducting new and unique research, obtaining permission from the copyright holder if needed, separating your writing when numerous papers have nearly identical subjects, and rephrasing your thoughts for your target audience.

 • Never steal or use someone else's creation without giving them credit.
 • Never utilize information that is not widely accepted as true without giving due credit.
 • Never use someone else's exact words without citing them or otherwise giving them credit.
 • Never try to pass off someone else's work as your own by paraphrasing it.
