Answer:

Domesticating plants and animals

Fear of snakes and spiders

Social roles and cooperation

Explanation:

The reason that we inherited these traits from our ancestors is that they confer an advantage in the environment in which we live. This process occurred through natural selection pressures that power evolution. Individuals that bore these traits had higher chances of reaching reproductive age and passing down their genes. Individuals without these traits died sooner hence their genes reduced with every generation.

Abstract

Nature was and still is a prolific source of inspiration in pharmacy, cosmetics, and agro-food industries for the discovery of bioactive products. Informatics is now present in most human activities. Research in natural products is no exception. In silico tools may help in numerous cases when studying natural substances: in pharmacognosy, to store and structure the large and increasing number of data, and to facilitate or accelerate the analysis of natural products in regards to traditional uses of natural resources; in drug discovery, to rationally design libraries for screening natural compound mimetics and identification of biological activities for natural products. Here we review different aspects of in silico approaches applied to the research and development of bioactive substances and give examples of using nature-inspiring power and ultimately valorize biodiversity.

Maggie's Plant Experiment In this exercise you will read the following scenario and identify the parts of the scientific method
ANTONII [103]

Answer:

Please find the identified steps of the scientific method below

Explanation:

A scientific method is a series of steps that aims at solving a problem. The steps in a scientific method include:

1. Making observation: In this experiment, Maggie observed when she read that some plants grow better if the soil is acidic. This is her observation that led to the scientific question: Do plants grow better in an acidic soil?

2. Formulating hypothesis: Hypothesis is a testable explanation to a problem. In this experiment, Maggie's hypothesis is; IF acid is added to the soil, THEN plants will grow better

3. Test hypothesis: the hypothesis is tested by conducting an experiment. In this case, Maggie places two geranium plants of the same size in two pots. Then she added a tablespoon of vinegar to one of the pots and allows the other grow normally without acid. The independent variable in this experiment is the vinegar added while the dependent variable is the height of the plants. The plant group with the vinegar is the experimental group while the plant group without vinegar is the control group. The constants of this experiment are same sunlight, same amount of water, same location etc.

4. Analyse data: The growth of the control and experimental plants were measured every week for five weeks by measuring their heights. The height (cm) of the plants with vinegar for the five weeks as as follows: 10.0, 12.4, 14.8, 18.0, 21.4 while the height in cm for the plants without vinegar for the five weeks is as follows: 10.0, 11.5, 13.0, 15.7, 17.8.

5. Conclusion: Based on the result, the plants exposed to vinegar grew better each week except week 1, which is the week they started. Hence, the hypothesis of this experiment will be ACCEPTED because the experiment proves it.
