To solve this problem you must apply the proccedure shown below:
 You have  that the sum of a number a its reciprocal is 68/28. Therefore, you have:

 x: the number.
 1/x: its reciprocal.

 x+(1/x)=65/28

 When you simplify the equation, you obtain:

 x^2-(65x/28)+1=0

 Solving the quadratic equation, you have:

 x=4/7; x=7/4

 Therefore, the answer is: 4/7 or 7/4.

Let
x--------> the number

we know that
x+(1/x)=65/28---------> x+1/x=65/28-----> multiply by x
x²+1=65/28*x-----> x²-(65/28)*x+1=0

using a graph tool----> to resolve the second order equation
see the attached figure
the solution is
x=1.75-----> 1 3/4----> (4*1+3)//4----> 7/4
so
7/4+4/7----> (7*7+4*4)/28----> (49+16)/28----> 65/28----> is correct

the answer is
the number is 7/4

Whether you’re considering a classroom book club for the first time, or are already guiding your students through their third book this year, here’s a list of benefits and some tips for success you can employ right away!

NYC’s District 75 published their Middle School Units of Study, Developing Autonomy when Engaging with Literature, online. In it they list some of the benefits of book clubs in the classroom:

Book clubs:

Promote a love for literature and a positive attitude towards reading;

Reflect a student-centered model of literacy (employing the Gradual

Release of Responsibility);

Encourage extensive and intensive reading;

Invite natural discussions that lead to student inquiry and critical

Thinking;

Support diverse responses to text;

Foster interaction, cooperation and collaboration;

Provide choice and encourage responsibility;

Expose students to literature from multiple perspectives; and

Nurture reflection and self-evaluation.

Thoughtfully planned book clubs position learning in the hands of the students and provide discussion tools students can use as they work out their responses to the book.

We provide approaches to professional development that bridge theory and practice to generate solutions that work for a multitude of schools. With that bridge in mind, enjoy the following as you think through your classroom’s book club possibilities!

Use the given x and y values to write a direct variation<br> equation.<br> x = 2, y = 30
exis [7]

Answer:

y = 15x

Step-by-step explanation:

Given x and y are in direct variation then the equation relating them is

y = kx ← k is the constant of variation

To find k use the condition x = 2, y = 30, then

30 = 2k ( divide both sides by 2 )

15 = k

y = 15x ← equation of variation

Answer:

The total number of U.S. high school students that played on a sports team that year can be estimated to be 7,950,000.

Step-by-step explanation:

From the random sample, we can expect that \frac{250000}{500000}=\frac{1}{2} of all students played on a sports team that year. So in the bigger sample of 15900000 high school students, we can expect 15900000 \cdot \frac{1}{2} = 7950000 students to have played on a sports team that year.

A candle burned at a steady rate. After 33 minutes, the candle was 11.2 inches tall. Eighteen minutes later, it was 10.75 inches
Amiraneli [1.4K]

Answer:

9.025 inches

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the length be represented by:

L = mt+L_0

Where L is the length of candle at time t

m is the rate at which the candle is burning.

And L_0 is the initial length of the candle.

As per the question statement, let us put the given values in the equation.

11.2 = m\times 33 + L_0 .... (1)\\10.75 = m\times 51+L_0 ..... (2)

Subtracting (1) from (2):

0.45 = -18m\\\Rightarrow m = -0.025

Putting the value of m in the equation (1):

11.2 = -0.025 \times 33+L_0\\\Rightarrow L_0 = 12.025

Therefore, the equation becomes:

L = -0.025t + 12.025

Now, we have to find the height of candle after 2 hours.

2 hours mean 120 minutes.

L = -0.025 \times 120 + 12.025\\\Rightarrow L = 9.025\ inches

Therefore, the height of candle is <em>9.025 inches</em>.
