Eli had $10, but he lost some of it. His mom doubled the money he had left. Eli wrote the expression 2(10 – k) to show how much

money he has now, where k is the amount of money he lost. Aisha wrote another correct expression, 20 – 2k, to also show how much money Eli has now. Use the drop-down menus to explain what each part of Eli's and Aisha's expressions mean.

Answer:

Equation 1

In the story it said Eli's mom doubled the money he left, that is what the two represents. 10 is the original amount he had. -k is the money he lost.

Equation 2

20 is the the result of the original 10 being multiplied. -2k, now the 2 is still the amount that the mom doubled his amount by, and the k is how much money Eli lost.

Hope this helps!!

Find the exact value of cos 120° in simplest form with a rational<br> denominator.
IRINA_888 [86]

Given:

cos 120°

To find:

The exact value of cos 120° in simplest form with a rational  denominator.

Solution:

We have,

\cos 120^\circ

It can be written as

\cos 120^\circ=\cos (90^\circ+30^\circ)

\cos 120^\circ=-\sin 30^\circ             [\because \cos (90^\circ-\theta)=-\sin \theta]

\cos 120^\circ=-\left(\dfrac{1}{2}\right)             [\because \sin 30^\circ=\dfrac{1}{2}]

\cos 120^\circ=-\dfrac{1}{2}

Therefore, the exact value of cos 120° is -\dfrac{1}{2}.

How do I solve -5 - (15y - 1) = 2 (7y - 16) - y
Aleks [24]
If you want to solve the equation -5 - (15 * y - 1) = 2 * (7 * y - 16) - y, you can calculate this using the following steps:

-5 - (15 * y - 1) = 2 * (7 * y - 16) - y
-5 - 15 * y + 1 = 14 * y - 32 - y
-5 + 1 + 32 = 14 * y - y + 15 * y
28 = 28 * y    /28
y = 1

The result is 1.
