Write the equation of the circle whose endpoints of a diameter are (2,-5) and (8,-1)

if the endpoints are there, that means that segment with those endpoints is the diameter of the circle, and that also means that the midpoint of that diameter is the center of the circle.

it also means that the distance from the midpoint to either endpoint, is the radius of the circle.

\bf ~~~~~~~~~~~~\textit{middle point of 2 points } \\\\ (\stackrel{x_1}{2}~,~\stackrel{y_1}{-5})\qquad (\stackrel{x_2}{8}~,~\stackrel{y_2}{-1}) \qquad \left(\cfrac{ x_2 + x_1}{2}~~~ ,~~~ \cfrac{ y_2 + y_1}{2} \right) \\\\\\ \left( \cfrac{8+2}{2}~~,~~\cfrac{-1-5}{2} \right)\implies (5,-3)\impliedby center \\\\[-0.35em] \rule{34em}{0.25pt}

\bf ~~~~~~~~~~~~\textit{distance between 2 points} \\\\ \stackrel{midpoint}{(\stackrel{x_1}{5}~,~\stackrel{y_1}{-3})}\qquad \stackrel{endpoint}{(\stackrel{x_2}{8}~,~\stackrel{y_2}{-1})}\qquad \qquad d = \sqrt{( x_2- x_1)^2 + ( y_2- y_1)^2} \\\\\\ \stackrel{radius}{r}=\sqrt{[8-5]^2+[-1-(-3)]^2}\implies r=\sqrt{(8-5)^2+(-1+3)^2} \\\\\\ r=\sqrt{3^2+2^2}\implies r=\sqrt{13} \\\\[-0.35em] \rule{34em}{0.25pt}

\bf \textit{equation of a circle}\\\\ (x- h)^2+(y- k)^2= r^2 \qquad center~~(\stackrel{5}{ h},\stackrel{-3}{ k})\qquad \qquad radius=\stackrel{\sqrt{13}}{ r} \\[2em] [x-5]^2+[y-(-3)]^2=(\sqrt{13})^2\implies \boxed{(x-5)^2+(y+3)^2=13}

Billy has a die. He rolls the die, and if the result is not even, he rolls the die
PIT_PIT [208]

Answer:

1/4 is the answer.

Step-by-step explanation:

If he has a die then it is 6 sided. He has a 1/2 chance the 1st time that he gets a non-even number. The next time he also has a 1/2 chance of getting an even number so it's 1/2 times 1/2 = 1/4.

The m∠P is three less than twice the measure of ∠Q. If ∠P and ∠Q are supplementary angles, find the measures of both angles.
notka56 [123]

Answer:

m∠P =119

m∠Q = 61

Step-by-step explanation:

m∠P =  2(∠Q)-3    or p=2(q)-3

supplementary angles so they combine to equal 180!

soooooo we can take

q+p=180

input what p equals and you get

q+ 2(q)-3=180

3q-3=180

3q=183

q=61

now we have what m∠Q is, so just subtract that from 180 to get m∠P

180-61=119

Determina si 2018 es un termino de la siguiente progresion aritmetica 17,46,75,104,133,....
Kitty [74]
2018 is the 70th term of the progression.

Explanation
We start out finding the common difference of the progression:
46-17 = 29

Now we write the explicit formula for the sequence.  It is of the form
a_n=a_1+d(n-1)
\\
a_n=17+29(n-1)

We set this equal to 2018 to see if the answer is a whole number.  If it is, it will be the term number that gives us 2018:

2018=17+29(n-1)

Using the distributive property,
2018=17+29*n-29*1
2018=17+29n-29

Combine like terms:
2018=29n-12

Add 12 to both sides:
2018+12=29n-12+12
2030=29n

Divide both sides by 29:
2030/29=29n/29
70=n

Since n=70, this means 2018 is the 70th term of the sequence.
