Uranus is a real oddball in our solar system. Its spin axis is tilted by a whopping 98 degrees, meaning it essentially spins on its side. No other planet has anywhere near such a tilt. Jupiter is tilted by 3 degrees, for example, and Earth by 23 degrees.

What is nitrogen cycle and, what things need the nitrogen cycle and why is it important?

Explanation:

So plants need nitrogen to make their proteins (proteins are made of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen and small amounts of sulfer).

Unfortunately, the nitrogen in the atmosphere is inert (unreactive).

But there are still other ways to get nitrogen:

1. Lightning. It causes some of the nitrogen to combine with oxygen, forming nitrogen oxides. These dissolve in rain and are washed into the soil where they form nitrates.

2. Artificial fertilizers. There are literally ammonium compounds and nitrates in those bags that people sell.

3. Nitrogen-fixing bacteria. So there is bacteria in the soil that live in root nodules on plants.

What do they do?? They use nitrogen from air spaces in the soil and combine it with other subsrances to make ammonium ions and other compounds.

4. Nitrifying bacteria. They turn ammonium ions into nitrates, which plants can use again. (so basically they serve nitrogen dish to the plant)

They convert the nitrogen containing substances into BETTER nitrogen containing substances for the plant

5. Denitrifying bacteria. FINALLY these bacteria turn nitrates and ammonia in the soil into nitrogen gas, which goes back to the atmosphere.

And the cycle goes on from the start...

Note that 1-3 are just ways in which nitrogen can be converted into a more reactive form.

There are a variety of points in the transcriptional chain at which it is possible to disrupt protein synthesis in bacteria. Let’s enumerate just a few:

<span>There’s the initial point where DNA is transcribed into mRNA;<span>there’s the point where mRNA binds to the Ribosome complex;</span>there’s the point where tRNA-aminoacyl pair binds to the Ribosome according to the current codon being “read out” in the mRNA;there’s the point where the aminoacid transported by the tRNA is transferred to the growing protein chain; andthere’s the point where the protein synthesis is determined complete, and the Ribosome disengages and releases the newly-synthesized peptide chain.</span>

In each of these stages (and in some other, more subtle phases) there are possible points of disruption and there are specific disruptors; some of which are indicated in the aboveProtein synthesis inhibitor article.

Note, by the way, that the Ribosomes of Prokaryotes (bacteria) and Eukaryotes (cells with nuclei) aren’t identical, and therefore the inhibitors/disruptors that work for one type of cell may not (and usually don’t) work on the other type. That’s why we can take antibiotics targeted at bacteria with little to no fear of them interfering with our eukaryotic cells’ functions.

(This is a simplified, somewhat hand-wavy response. There is a lot more to say, mainly because biological systems are anything but simple. Nevertheless this should be enough to get you started in the general direction.)
