For all parts of this question, use the function y + 2 = 3(x + 4)
vekshin1

i would start by simplifying the equation to get y by itself, you don't need to do this, but it makes it a little easier

y + 2 = 3 ( x + 4) distribute the 3 through the parenthesis

y + 2 = 3x + 12. subtract 2 from both sides

y = 3x +10

now to fill in the chart simply plug in the value of x to see what value of y it produces

y = 3(-2) +10

y = -6+10

y = 4

(-2,4)

y = 3(0) + 10

y = 0 + 10

y = 10

(0,10)

y = 3(2)+10

y = 6 + 10

y = 16

(2,16)

y = 3(4) + 10

y = 12 + 10

y = 22

(4,22)

- Why<br> is x<br> 7=42<br> correct?
Jlenok [28]
Are you saying x * 7 = 42? If so you want to divide 42 / 7 and you get 6. So 6 * 7 = 42. If that’s what you were asking, that’s the answer. We’re you finding X? If you were supposed to find X that would be the answer.

To stay within your budget,the area of the house and the garage combined is at most 3000 square feet.The area of the garage is 5
navik [9.2K]

Answer:

h ≤ 3000 ft² - 528 ft²

h ≤ 2472 ft²

Step-by-step explanation:

Area of house and garage is at most 3000 ft²

Area of garage = 528 ft²

Area of house (h) =?

Area of garage + Area of house ≤ 3000 ft²

528 ft² + h ≤ 3000 ft²

h ≤ 3000 ft² - 528 ft²

h ≤ 2472 ft²

monitta

Answer:

The sum of money received by Ali, Carrie and Bryan is $ 740.

Step-by-step explanation:

At first we translate mathematically each sentence:

(i) <em>Ali, Carrie and Bryan received a sum of money. </em>

a - Ali's money.

b - Bryan's money.

c - Carrie's money.

(ii) <em>Bryan's money was </em>\frac{3}{5}<em> of  Ali's money</em>.

b = \frac{3}{5}\cdot a (1)

(iii) <em>The ratio of Ali's money to Carrie's money was 4 : 1</em>.

\frac{a}{c} = 4 (2)

(iv) <em>Ali had $ 160 more than Bryan</em>.

a = b + 160 (3)

After some algebraic handling, we have the following system of linear equations:

3\cdot a - 5 \cdot b = 0 (1b)

a - 4\cdot c = 0 (2b)

a - b = 160 (3b)

The solution of the system is: a = 400, b = 240, c = 100

The sum of money is:

s = a + b + c

s = 740

The sum of money received by Ali, Carrie and Bryan is $ 740.
