Answer:

A ) The Original price of music player before it was marked down by  \dfrac{1}{4}  is $512

B ) The price that store paid for player is $256

C ) The difference between discount price and price paid by store is $128

Step-by-step explanation:

Given as :

A ) The sale price of music player = $128

The music player is marked down by \dfrac{1}{4} of original price

Let The original price = $x

Now, According to question

\dfrac{1}{4} of original price = $128

i.e \dfrac{1}{4} × $x = $128

Or, x = 128 × 4

∴ x = $512

So, The Original price of music player before it was marked down by  \dfrac{1}{4}  is $512

B ) The music player is marked up by \dfrac{1}{2} before it was placed on sales floor .

Let The price that store paid for player = $y

Now, According to question

∵ The original price of player = $512

So, The price that store paid for player = \dfrac{1}{2}  × original price of player

i.e y =  \dfrac{1}{2}  × $512

Or , y = $256

So,The price that store paid for player = $256

C ) Let The difference between discount price and price paid by store = $z

So, According to question

z = y - discount price

Or , z = $256 - $128

∴  z = $128

So, The difference = $128

Hence, A ) The Original price of music player before it was marked down by  \dfrac{1}{4}  is $512

B ) The price that store paid for player is $256

C ) The difference between discount price and price paid by store is $128

The linear combination method is applied to a system of equations as shown.
tensa zangetsu [6.8K]

Answer:

(9,3)

Step-by-step explanation:

4(.25x + .5y = 3.75) → x + 2y = 15

(4x – 8y = 12) → x – 2y = 3

2x = 18

Divide both sides by 2

x = 9

Substitute x = 9 into  x + 2y = 15

9 + 2y = 15

Subtract 9 from both sides

2y = 6

Divide both sides by 2

y = 3

Solution

(9, 3)

The cost, C, in millions of dollars of producing T million tons of steel is modeled by the equation C = 220T + 1890.
kobusy [5.1K]

C = 220T + 1890.

Solve the equation for T.

220T = C - 1890

T = C/220 - 8.6

The steel produced is expected to be sold at a price of $310 per ton.

310 $/ton is a rate or slope. Write a linear equation where x is tons of steel produced and y is selling price of the steel.

y = 310x

Write and solve an equation to find the amount of steel produced if the selling price is equal to the cost of production.

* Here, note that the cost of production and tons of steel in the first equation is in the millions.  The equation we just wrote for the selling price was in x tons of steel. This only matters in regards to the units you specify because; million/million = 1

The unit multiplier of all variables must be specified as same. Either everything is in millions or not.

Here, I'll leave everything in millions, change x (tons of steel) to T (mill tons steel) and "y" to "S" in million dollars selling price.

S = 310T

Set equal to Cost equation.

220T + 1980 = 310T

Solve for T, million tons of steel produced.

1980 = 310T - 220T

1980 = 90T

T = 1980/90

T = 22 million tons steel produced
