What TWO factors do scientists track and monitor in all types of freshwater ecosystem?

Answer:

A: light availability

B: nutrients

Explanation:

Both nutrients and light availability affect the primary productivity of the freshwater ecosystem, therefore, scientists study both factors to track associated changes. This is because photosynthesis is driven by sunlight and nutrients availability. It is suggested that the abundance of autotrophs (e.g. phytoplanktons) in an aquatic ecosystem increases as light and nutrients availability increase. Thus, there will be more food available for secondary and tertiary consumers to feed upon. Resultantly, the aquatic environment will turn a biodiversity hotspot where many species of living organisms start dwelling. Thus, scientists mainly ecologists would focus on these two parameters at first that lead to consideration of other parameters.

2. In polar regions, phytoplankton.
natka813 [3]

Answer:

b. thrive during the summer, when sunlight increases

Explanation:

Phytoplankton production is highly associated with latitude and season. In polar regions, phytoplankton production is reduced to the summer (and eventually spring) season. In consequence, the zooplankton that eats phytoplankton only can survive during the spring and summer seasons. On the other hand, in tropical areas, there exists a nearly constant phytoplankton production all year round.

Anton [14]

Answer:

The cilia in the upper respiratory tract move mucus  down toward the pharynx whereas the cilia in the  lower respiratory tract move them up toward the pharynx.

Explanation:

Through the internal nares, the air enters nasopharynx from the nasal cavity. This air has dust-laden mucus. The nasopharynx is lined with ciliated pseudostratified columnar epithelium. These cilia move the mucus down toward the most inferior part of the pharynx. The lining of the larynx inferior to the vocal folds is made up of ciliated pseudostratified columnar epithelium and have ciliated columnar cells, goblet cells, and basal cells.

The goblet cells serve to produce and secrete mucus. The mucus from goblet cells helps trap dust that was not removed in the upper passages. Therefore, the cilia in the upper respiratory tract move mucus and trapped particles down toward the pharynx whereas the cilia in the lower respiratory tract move them up toward the pharynx.
