The further from the trench an earthquake's epicenter is, the deeper it is - assuming the earthquake is related to a plate being subducted.

<u>Explanation:</u>

The depressions that are very long and narrower and that exists on the  seafloor refers to the Ocean trench. Theses are found on the deepest parts of the ocean. They encapsulate the regions that are prone of volcanic eruptions and also zones of earthquake.

The subductions that are caused in the plates are the ocean trench. These are formed due to the tectonic activity. These are caused mainly due to the movement of the lithosphere of Earth. The process of subduction that results in the trench formation that causes the lithosphere that has high density to move below the lithosphere of lower density.
